Terms of use
1code Mail · Effective 20 October 2026
In short
- 1code Mail is email without passwords. You sign in with 1code ID.
- Your mail is yours. We look after it so we can deliver it to you.
- Don't send spam, scams or anything illegal. We limit sending to keep everyone's mail landing in inboxes.
- Your company gets its own address space, like you@acme.1code.email. It receives everything; sending to the
outside world needs your company's own domain.
- It's free while in early access. Nothing will be charged without your agreement and 30 days' notice.
1. Who we are and what these terms cover
These terms are an agreement between you and 1code x LTD, a company registered in England and Wales
(company number 12828341), registered office 2 Centurion Way, Credenhill, Hereford, England, HR4 7FF ("1code",
"we", "us"). They cover 1code Mail: the web app at inbox.1code.email, addresses at @1code.email, sending through our
service, and connecting mail apps and AI assistants to it. Contact: privacy@1code.email.
They apply to everyone who uses 1code Mail, including people using it free of charge. How we handle personal data
is in our Privacy notice. Signing in uses 1code ID, which has its own terms.
2. Who can use 1code Mail
You must be at least 13. In the EU and UK, people under 16 need a parent's or guardian's consent where their local
law requires it; in South Africa, people under 18 do. If you use 1code Mail for an organisation, you confirm that
you're allowed to accept these terms for it.
3. Your account
- You sign in with 1code ID by approving on your phone. There's no password. Keep your phone and its lock secure,
and tell us straight away if you think someone else has got into your account.
- You're responsible for what's done with your account, including by the mail apps and AI assistants you connect
and the permissions you give them.
- Addresses directly on 1code.email (like hello@1code.email) belong to 1code itself. Your address is on your
company's own subdomain (section 4).
4. Companies and their addresses
A company signs up with a name and gets its own subdomain: Acme gets acme.1code.email, and its people get
addresses like you@acme.1code.email.
- The name is fixed once made (the display name can change). Names that could pass for an official address or
for someone else's brand aren't allowed, and some wait for our review before they're switched on.
- Company addresses receive mail from anyone, and can send to other 1code Mail addresses; that mail stays inside
1code Mail. To send to the outside world, the company adds its own domain (like acme.com), so its sending
builds its own reputation. Until then, replies, forwards and automatic replies to outside addresses aren't sent.
- An address that has been closed is never given to anyone else, and a company name is never reused.
A company runs its addresses from the admin console. In that case:
- the mailboxes belong to the company, and its owner and admins can create, suspend, see and close them, give
others access to shared mailboxes, and see a log of admin actions;
- the organisation is responsible for telling its people how their work mail is handled, and for having a lawful
reason to do so;
- if you leave the organisation, it keeps your work mailbox.
5. Your content
You keep all rights in your mail and anything else you put in 1code Mail. You give us permission to store, process,
deliver, display and back it up, and to check it automatically for spam, fake senders and malware, only so we can
run the service for you. We don't use it for advertising or to train AI. See the Privacy notice
for when people at 1code might see it.
6. Acceptable use
Don't use 1code Mail to:
- send spam, bulk mail to people who didn't ask for it, or mail that misleads people about who it's from;
- phish, scam, spread malware, or try to get into accounts or systems that aren't yours;
- harass, threaten or abuse anyone, or share content that sexually exploits children (we report it to the
authorities);
- break the law, or infringe other people's rights, including their privacy;
- get around sending limits, overload the service, or probe it for weaknesses without our permission (if you find a
security problem, tell us and we'll thank you).
7. Sending limits
Company addresses on 1code.email don't send outside 1code Mail at all (section 4). Where sending to the outside
world is allowed, from 1code's own addresses or a company's own domain, we limit how much can be sent, and the
limits grow as the sender builds trust. If bounces or spam complaints rise, we may pause outside sending for
an account or for the whole service until it's fixed. Mail between 1code Mail addresses isn't limited this way.
8. AI assistants, mail apps and imports
You choose whether to connect an AI assistant or a mail app, and what it may do. Each one acts on your
instructions, and its provider's own terms apply to it. You're responsible for mail an assistant sends with your
permission. When you import mail from Google or Microsoft, we only read your account there, and we stop when the
import ends.
9. Price
1code Mail is free during early access. If we introduce paid plans or trials, we'll tell you at least 30 days before
anything you use starts to cost money, and we won't charge you without your agreement.
10. Availability and changes to the service
We work to keep 1code Mail reliable and secure, but we can't promise it will always be available or free of errors.
It's sensible to keep your own copy of mail you can't afford to lose. We may change or improve features. If we
remove something important you rely on, we'll tell you in advance where we can and help you take your mail with you.
11. Suspension and closing your account
- You can stop using 1code Mail at any time, and ask us to close your account at
privacy@1code.email. Before it closes, you can ask for a copy of your mail.
- We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, or where the law requires
it. Unless that would be unsafe or unlawful, we'll tell you why and give you a chance to fix it or take your mail
with you.
12. Our responsibility to you
- Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud,
or for anything else the law doesn't allow us to limit. Nothing takes away the rights you have as a consumer
under the law where you live, for example under the UK Consumer Rights Act 2015, EU consumer law, the Australian
Consumer Law, or South Africa's Consumer Protection Act and Electronic Communications and Transactions Act.
- Apart from that, we're not responsible for losses that weren't a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms,
or for loss of business, profits or opportunity when you use 1code Mail for business.
- You agree that, as far as the law allows, we are not liable for any damage caused by a technical failure, such as
the service being down, an error, or mail being lost or delayed.
- If something goes wrong, the most we owe you, for all claims connected with 1code Mail, is a refund of what you
paid us for the month in which it happened.
13. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you use 1code Mail as a consumer, you also keep the
protection of the mandatory law of the country where you live, and you can bring a claim in the courts there. Please
contact us first: most problems can be sorted out quickly.
14. Changes to these terms
If we change these terms in a way that matters, we'll tell you in 1code Mail or by email at least 30 days before the
change takes effect, unless it's needed sooner for legal or security reasons. If you don't agree, you can stop
using 1code Mail and take your mail with you before the change applies.
